Geraldine B. “Judi” Weis, 75, of Edon, Ohio, who died Thursday, November 26, 2009,  operated Judi’s Beauty Shoppe from 1958 until her retirement in 1997.

She helped organize the Bryan Chapter of the Ohio National Hairdressers of America and held the office of secretary-treasurer for two years.

Judi also owned Standardbred horses and belonged to the United States Trotting Association and in the Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan racing sssociations.

While living in Montpelier, Ohio, she served as president of the Eagle Creek Garden Club, which started the beautification garden at the edge of Moore Baseball Park in the village.

She had been a member of the Welcome Club in Bryan, Ohio, and First United Methodist Church in Montpelier.

Judi, whose maiden name was Lynch, was born January 26, 1934, in St. Charles, Mo.

She graduated from Sylvania Burnham High School in Sylvania, Ohio, in 1952 and Warner’s Beauty College in 1958.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Melvin “Mel;” daughters, Pamela (Joe) Duprey of Kirkville, N.Y.,  and ChrisAnn Miller, of Montpelier; son, Scott (Sandi) Weis of Caledonia, Mich.; her grandchildren, Aaron, Logan, and Lindsee Jo Weis, Ethan Duprey, Briana, Ashtin and Braden Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Halle Weis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Virginia  Lynch; stepfather, Wayne Phillips; and one son, Gerald “Jerry” Weis.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009.
