Kenneth J. Johnson, 79, of Warsaw, taught at Echoing Hills Village

Kenneth J. Johnson, 79, of Warsaw, Ohio, a Johnson Farms partner who taught school for 25 years in Coshocton and Muskingum counties and volunteer to teach people with disabilities at Echoing Hills Village in Warsaw, died Friday, December 4, 2009.

He also taught at Coshocton Health and Rehab Center and Windsorwood in Coshocton. He was an honorary member of the River View Future Farmers of America in Warsaw.





L. Bernadine Shilling, 77, of Bowling Green, taught for 40 years in Orrville schools

L. Bernadine Shilling, 77, of Bowling Green, Ohio, who taught in the Orrville schools for 40 years, died Friday, December 4, 2009.

She first taught at Orrville High School and later at Orrville Junior High.

Bernadine, whose maiden name was Hill, was born in Malta, Ohio, where she graduated from Malta-McConnelsville High School in 1950. She received a bachelor of music education degree from Otterbein College in 1954 and later earned a post-graduate degree from Ohio University.

She married Fred Shilling on June 19, 1955, in Malta. Fred died August 10, 2006.

William Dallas Black Sr., 85, past president of Byesville Village council and school board

William Dallas Black Sr. was first elected to office at Byesville High School, where he was president of the Class of 1940.

The lifelong Byesville, Ohio, resident, who died Monday, November 2, 2009, at age 85, would serve as president of Byesville Village Council and Byesville Village Board of Education as an adult.

According to an obituary posted on the Black-Epperson Funeral Home website, Mr. Black was an original board member of the first Rolling Hills School Board and was very proud of negotiating the purchase of the entire campus for $20,000.00.

Mr. Black worked for 30 year at the former Ekco Housewares in Byesville, first as a journeyman tool-and-die maker and later as plant manager.
